Betway sponsors Boleyn Ground farewell friendly
Betway have become headline sponsors of a England v Germany Legends match held in honour of the Boleyn Ground’s final season.
West Ham United’s principal sponsor Betway have become headline sponsors of a England v Germany Legends match held in honour of the Boleyn Ground’s final season.

The match, taking place on the 50th anniversary of the 1966 World Cup final, will feature Hammers legends Joe Cole, Teddy Sheringham, David James, Trevor Sinclair and Dean Ashton suiting up in the red shirts made famous by Bobby Moore and Geoff Hurst.

Betway will be running an exclusive competition in the run up to the fixture that will see one lucky fan made an honorary ‘Legend’ for the day and take their place in the England squad.

They’ll be joined in the England side by Paul Scholes, Sol Campbell, Steve McManaman, Jamie Redknapp, Robbie Fowler and a cast of stars from film, music, sport and TV including assistant manager for the day Ray Winstone.

Germany will be captained by former Chelsea and Bayern Munich midfielder Michael Ballack, who will line up alongside Lothar Matthaus, Guido Buchwald, Fredi Bobic, Mario Basler and Jens Nowotny.

Betway’s Alan Alger said: “The Boleyn Ground has seen its fair share of drama on the pitch down the years, and we’re delighted to sponsor the Legends match between England and Germany that will be a fitting send off for the stadium.”

The Legends’ Lester Holcombe added: “We’re thrilled to have Betway as title partners for The Legends: England v Germany. With Premier League, Champions League and World Cup Winners already signed up to play in a match that will be broadcast in over 40 countries around the world, it promises to be a special day.”
