    Anthony Werkman


    Anthony was appointed CEO of Betway in November 2017 having served as Marketing and Operations Director since 2015.

    He joined Betway in 2013 and has worked in the online gaming industry since 2000 where he has held a variety of successful roles, including General Manager of a data analytics team and Director of a digital marketing agency.

    Anthony is the corporate spokesperson for Betway and has represented the company at the Parliamentary All-Party Betting & Gaming Group’s Future of Gambling Seminar Series.

    He was born and educated in South Africa where he completed an economics and politics degree.

    Ricky Serfontein

    Finance Director

    Ricky was appointed Finance Director of Betway in November 2017 and is responsible for all of Betway’s finance functions globally.

    In 2013, he joined Digital Outsource Services in Cape Town as Financial Operations Manager where he looked after the financial reporting requirements of its clients in the online gaming sector.

    Prior to this, Ricky was Financial Manager of Vox Orion, a subsidiary of Vox Telecom Limited, a company providing enterprise telecommunications services.

    Ricky is a qualified Chartered Accountant and studied at Stellenbosch University before completing his accounting articles at PwC.

    Richard Akitt


    Richard became Chairman of Betway in November 2017 to help oversee the next phase of the company’s growth.

    He was appointed as CEO in 2012 and during his tenure he was responsible for major operational improvements and high-performance growth.

    Richard has over 15 years’ experience in the gaming industry and in 1992 co-founded WebTech Software. After developing it into a successful business he sold it in 2000 and moved into online gaming.

    He spent 12 years as a Finance Director within the online gaming and mobile payment processing industries.

    Richard is a qualified Chartered Accountant.

    Nick Sheperd

    Non-Executive Director

    Nick has been a marketing consultant since 2008, advising private equity firms, hedge funds and businesses, primarily in the food and beverage sector. He has worked with the Betway Group since 2010.

    He began his career at Kelloggs in a variety of Sales and Marketing roles, including five years as Sales and Marketing Director for the Nordic region.

    Back in the UK he joined Kraft Foods in 1992. He held a number of positions there, rising up the ranks from Director of Marketing - Coffee UK to Vice President, Global brands.

    He then decided to put his expertise to broader use, working as a consultant. Nick began partnering with companies to improve brand performance and to work on potential acquisitions and divestitures.

    He played a pivotal role in Betway's rebrand in 2013 as well as its launches into the UK and other markets. After closely working with the business for seven years, Nick was appointed as a Non-Executive Director of Betway in late 2017.

    Nick completed a BA (Hons) in Business Studies at Leicester Polytechnic.

    Lord St John of Bletso

    Advisor to Board of Directors

    Lord St John of Bletso has been an Independent Member of the House of Lords since 1978, and has worked for over 15 years in the City in London.

    Starting his career as an oil analyst, he then moved into equity sales and investor relations with Smith New Court and then Merrill Lynch, focussing on Sub Saharan Africa and the Far East.

    Lord St John has served as a director on many listed and unlisted companies from oil, to telecommunications, IT, renewable energy, financial services, manufacturing and marketing services, bringing with him expertise in corporate governance, legal due diligence, financial restructuring and corporate finance.

    In 1998, he was appointed Extra Lord in Waiting to Her Majesty The Queen and he is currently a Member of the House of Lords Communications Select Committee.

    He has also served on the Information and PICT Committee, as well as the European Union Select Committee on Trade Finance and Foreign Affairs.

    Lord St John is currently Chairman and Trustee of nine charities, and in 2015 became Advisor to Betway’s Board of Directors.

    Bob Dutnall

    Advisor to the Board

    Bob Dutnall is currently Advisor to the Betway Board of Directors.
    He joined Betway in 2012, playing a key role in structuring the company as it is today, with a particular focus on developing the sports betting business. Bob had previously spent seven years with leading listed online gambling company, Sportingbet plc, including five years as managing director of its European business.

    Prior to moving into the online gambling industry, Bob was a key part of the management buyout team that successfully acquired and restructured CompAir, a global engineering group, with backing from leading venture capital specialist Alchemy.

    Originally qualifying as an accountant, Bob previously held senior finance and general management positions with a number of leading industrial and consumer companies, including Invensys and Unigate, with an emphasis on business improvement and turn round.
